Chorus and Music Appreciation Blog

Congratulations to the entire chorus department! Our fall concert was quite a success. In my 10 years of teaching it was one of the most polished fall concerts I have ever had the privilege of conducting. Bel Voce and Chorale members sang with great precision and musicality.
We are now starting our Holiday music for our Wheeler Music Holiday Showcase. Go ahead and plan to purchase tickets to this event on December 2. We have two concerts that day. The Prelude concert features our Chorale choir as well as the Sinfonettia Orchestra and Symphonic band and begins at 2:00. The Finale concert begins at 4:30 and features the Bel Voce choir, Chamber and full orchestras, and Wind Ensemble. We are looking forward to it and hope to see you there!

Music Appreciation: We are beginning chapter 7 and working on American composers. Also, remember to complete your concert review and turn in to me.

Chorus and Music Appreciation Update

Chorus
All students should have signed into their Charms account and inputted their name, email address, parent name, and parent email address.  This is the main form of communication for the class. Also, students should have put in their T shirt size for the chorus T shirts. Please remember to continue paying your choral dues if you have not turned in the $100 payment ($50 per semester if only in for 1 semester). Thank you!

Music Appreciation
We have completed our first unit (Chapters 1-3) and we are beginning unit two (Chapters 4 and 5) soon. Students need to turn in any missing assignments as shown in synergy.  Also, students will continue to search for instrumental music for our critical music listening logs.

Wheeler Chorus and Music Appreciation Blog 2017-2018

Welcome back!  I hope that everyone had a great summer that was energizing and restful.  We are ready here at Wheeler Chorus for a great new year.  First, a couple of changes for this first semester.  There are two choirs instead of three.  This is due to addition of the Musical Theatre class that has been added that I will team teach with Mrs. Coleman, the drama teacher.  The two choirs are Bel Voce, the advanced mixed ensemble and Chorale, the intermediate womens chorus.
Please note our parent meeting for Tuesday August, 8 at 6:30pm in the chorus room.  We will meet to go over the choral program as well as concert dates.   I look forward to meeting the parents then.
Music Appreciation meets 4th block 1st semester.  Students should be finding an instrumental piece of music to play for the class and ready to share.
