Chorus
Congratulations on a beautiful Holiday Concert. It was a big day for Wheeler nation with every music ensemble performing on one day. Saturday was a long, but incredibly musical day for all of us. I am so proud at how well you sang and how you handled yourself on stage. Bravo to all! We will continue with one on part vocal tests throughout the week. Well done!
Music Appreciation
We will continue our unit of Music in Film and continue with American Musicals.

Chorus: Last week of rehearsals before the Holiday Concert on Saturday 12/1. Remember Chorale your call time is 1:00pm at the PAC. Bel Voce's call time is 3:45 in the PAC. Tickets can be bought at the door.
 
Music Appreciation: Begin Music in Film. Book p. 360- p. 379. Chapter review questions on p. 379 #1-14. Music Film scores.

 Final week before our Thanksgiving break. Remember to purchase your tickets for the Holiday Showcase on December 1! Our goal is for every student to sell at least two tickets.
 
Music Appreciation
Test over British beat groups this week on Thursday 11/15. Complete the test review and turn in any outstanding work.

 Chorus:
Holiday Showcase tickets are available for purchase through this link http://www.wheelerorchestra.com/holiday-showcase.html.  Be sure to indicate that you are buying as a chorus student. This is our fall fundraiser so it is very important that you indicate chorus when purchasing tickets. Paper forms are also available and will be sent home this week. The deadline for paper forms is November 26, after that date only tickets at the door will be sold. Invite your friends and family, we want a full house and order early! 
 
Music Appreciation
Continuing with British Beat groups packet #5 and beginning music of the late 70s early 80s. The musical the Wiz will be shown and discussed.

Chorus:
Magnet Open House night is this Thursday 10/25. We will have two performances of "Come In From Firefly Darkness". Wear your chorus shirt and jeans. 
This week we will really start digging into our Holiday concert music pitches and rhythms as well as sightreading examples.
 
Music Appreciation
We will begin a new unit starting with the British Beat Bands (ex. the Beatles). Listening examples and chapter reviews will be given. Complete all classwork!

Excellent Concert last week. I am very proud of the time and dedication it took us to perform a very musical and exciting experience. We will continue voice testing one on a part this week and then begin Holiday Music for our next concert on December 1.
 
Music Appreciation
We will complete the soul music chapter this week. We will complete soul music packet part 3 and then begin our review of unit 3. The unit 3 test will be this Friday 10/20!

Chorus:
 This is it! Our first concert is Tuesday October 9 at 7:00PM in the Performing Arts Center. Invite your friends and family. It is a free concert! Performers are to arrive at 5:45 for Bel Voce and 6:15 for Women's Chorale. After the concert we will complete our 1 on a part vocal test.
 
Music Appreciation:
We are continuing our Soul music packets with parts 2 and 3 due this week. Plus video documentaries of the music history.

Week of September 17
Chorus:
We are in the final couple of weeks before our first concert on October 9. Continue memorizing music as we polish the songs for our first performance! Remember to turn in your uniform money with cash or check (made payable to Wheeler Chorus Booster Club).  Uniforms will be ordered this week so please remit payment as soon as possible. Tuesday, 9 chorus students will represent Wheeler at the Georgia State University Singfest. We look forward to a day of music with other high school students in the area.
Music Appreciation
Several students have assignments missing. Please check synergy for those missing assignments. This week we continue in our history of Rock and Roll with packets on chapter 9 and 10. Complete all study guide packets. Our unit two test will be this Friday 9/21.

Chorus: All members should have logged into Charms by now (charmsoffice.com). Please complete contact information with student name, email, and T shirt size. I also need a parent name and email address as well. Uniform information will be coming in the following week. Students, all solfege should be complete in all songs now. We are well underway in our concert literature rehearsals. Music Theory quiz on Friday 8/31.
 
Music Appreciation:  We are completing early rock and roll foundations. First major test is this Friday 8/31. Use your review sheets completed in class as a study guide.

Chorus: Music Theory test on Monday for Bel Voce. This week we will continue building on our concert literature in all classes. Still focusing on pitches and rhythms with an increased focus on sight singing exercises. Also, more foundation music theory work with new packets to work on as assigned. Continue to turn in dues and update all Charms information.

Music Appreciation: Country and Western music packet and beginning jazz and music of the 60s. Still completing music listening examples of the blues. Informational material assigned on jazz and 60s rock. Reviewing music theory as well.

Chorus: Reminder that chorus dues payments are appreciated this week. If you choose to pay in installments please talk with Mr. Perry to establish a payment plan. Also, all students should log into their Charms account https://www.charmsoffice.com/
To login in Charms: choose student/parent, enter wheelerchoir for school code, and enter lunch number as password. After the initial login, student will need to change password. Information needed under the Update Info tab: Student name, email address, and T shirt size. Also a parent name and email needs to be added as well under the Add New Adult tab at bottom. Please complete this by the end of the week.
 We have handed out several new pieces of music. Please complete solfege in all pieces by Tuesday. Also, the first music theory quiz will be this week for Chorale (3rd block Women's Choir).
Music Appreciation: Continuing the Blues and beginning Chapter 1 in Textbook Music and Its Role and Importance in our Lives. Have blues listening example ready to play for class. Also, 1st quiz on Music Theory will be on Friday.

Welcome Back Students! I hope that you had a restful and rejuvenating summer. I am looking forward to the music that we will make this school year. As a reminder please return all signed syllabus and handbook verification forms as soon as possible.

Chorus: Chorus dues are $100 for the year and checks can be made payable to Wheeler Chorus Booster Club. Remember that these funds help pay for accompanists, music, T shirts, and food for choral events. Please remit payment in a timely manner. Also, all students should be signed into Charms, the online hub for chorus by the end of the week at https://www.charmsoffice.com/ 
The school login is wheelerchoir and the password is their Cobb ID number (lunch number). After logging in the first time, a new password must be chosen. Chorus fall concert music begins this week as well as beginning theory packet assignments.

Music Appreciation: Please remember to turn in syllabus verification forms as soon as possible. This week we begin the foundations of music as well as the beginning of Rock Music. Chapter 1-2 plus the documentary film on Rock.

Chorus: We are getting back into the swing of things with our spring concert music. Be sure to invite all your friends and family for our final concert of the year on Thursday May 10 at 7:00pm in the Wheeler PAC. Also, remember if you rented your uniform those need to be returned CLEANED (dresses are machine washable, tuxedos are dry clean only). The last concert will be an exciting mix of pop tunes and music from the screen also featuring several solo and small group acts.

Musical Theatre: The show is fast approaching. We are now running everything and adding in technical component. Be sure to check the schedule so you know where you have to be and when!

Congratulations to both choirs on a great concert last Tuesday 2/27. You sang with great musicality and attention to detail. Also congratulations to Bel Voce for their Excellent rating in performance as well as a Superior in sightreading at LGPE. You all represented Wheeler so well. We will complete vocal tests this week and begin concert literature for our spring performance. Well done!

Musical Theatre: The musical is coming upon us quickly. Make sure that you are off book and ready to start putting it all together. 3 days of music practice and then rehearsals with everyone this week.

Chorus: CONCERT WEEK!
Remember Tuesday 2/27 is the chorus concert in the Wheeler PAC. Students are to arrive by 6:00pm dressed in concert attire (tuxedos and concert dresses). Concert begins at 7:00pm and is free. Invite friends and family. 
Bel Voce will perform at Lassiter HS on Friday 3/2 for Large Group Performance Evaluation. Our performance is at 12:00pm at the Lassiter Concert Hall. It is free and family is welcome to attend. Bel Voce members will miss 2nd and 3rd block on Friday. Concert attire will be worn as well.

Week of February 6

Choirs: Be sure that you have your uniform all ready for the concert on February 27. This will be our last formal concert that you wear the tuxedo/dress. Bel Voce, the sightreading is improving everyday. Let's hone in on our LGPE pieces to get them as polished as possible. Chorale, two of our pieces are coming along nicely, Ocean and Stars, and Irish blessing. We still need to work on Ev'ry Time and Now I walk in Beauty.

Musical Theatre: Good progress musically. Ensemble scenes of Freak Flag and Forever still need to be worked out. Check the schedule to know where you go and when.

Concert time is quickly approaching (especially with winter break looming). We are continuing sight reading examples daily. Also, Bel Voce, permission slips for LGPE will be passed out this week.
