Students and Parents/Guardians,

This post is a bittersweet one to say the least. After seven years of joyous and musically enriching experiences, I am leaving Wheeler High School. I have cherished my time working with the outstanding students that have come through my doors over the years. During the last couple of years I have felt called to church music ministry. At the end of September I was named the new Director of Music Ministries at a local church. My last day at Wheeler is October 8. However, the administration has graciously allowed me to come back on Tuesday October 15 for rehearsals and to conduct the Fall Concert as previously scheduled in the handbook. Just to be clear the Tuesday October 15 concert at 7:00pm in the Performing Arts Center at Wheeler is still on. Thank you all for your continued support of Wheeler Chorus, especially during this time of transition. See you all on October 15.

Welcome back from our 3 day weekend. By now everyone should have a uniform information sheet that was sent home. Please return those ASAP along with your uniform rental or purchase check made out to Wheeler Chorus booster club. Remember all rentals are $40 and dress purchases are $80. I also need the form indicating if you are buying or renting. Thank you!

Chorus students are delving into the fall concert literature and sightreading everyday in addition to basic music theory concepts. Chorus music should be completely solfeged by Friday 8/23. Please continue to remit syllabus and handbook verification forms and chorus dues if you have not yet done so.

Beginning women's chorus (3rd block) has a music theory quiz on Friday 8/16. Please continue to remit syllabus and handbook verification forms and chorus dues if you have not yet done so.

Welcome back to the 2019-2020 School year. I am excited to meet all of the new members and catch up with our returning choral veterans. Choirs

Hello all chorus students and parents/guardians,

We are very excited for our end of the year activities that are quickly approaching. I wanted to touch base and make sure you know of the upcoming opportunities.

Spring Concert May 9 at 7:00pm in the Wheeler Performing Arts Center.

This is our final concert of the year and is more pop and musical theatre style songs. We also showcase some our individual talent as well in the student showcase portion of the concert. The concert is free so invite all your family and friends. The Spring concert also features a chorus alumni song where we invite all Wheeler chorus alums to join us on stage for a familiar piece that has become a tradition. Finally, we celebrate our seniors in this concert.

Chorus Banquet May 16 at 6:00pm at Eastside Baptist Student Center

Today I am sending home the banquet sign up form. This is our fun way to close out the year sharing our successes and just celebrating the chorus program. The slideshow is always a highlight as well. It is not mandatory, but we do need a solid number of who is attending to order the correct amount of food. All of the details are included in the form that is attached in this email. PLEASE respond by the due date of May 2 with any prepayment (for non chorus members). We are not selling tickets at the door this year. Finally, we do need some volunteers to help facilitate the banquet and have setup a sign up genius to fill the spots. Congratulations to all of the choirs for a great performance in our Festival Concert last Tuesday! I was very proud at how focused and musical were during the concert. It is a culmination of all our hard work since the beginning of the semester. Also congratulations to Bel Voce and their fantastic LGPE performance. We made great improvements in literally one rehearsal and I was so proud at how you came together for such a great LGPE performance. Also, the sightreading portion was a major strength of the day. This week we will complete our vocal one on a part testing and then we will start our final (!) Spring concert music.

Chorus Classes

Concert Week! Tuesday March 5 at 7:00 PM we present our Winter Concert. It is free so invite all your family and friends. It should be a fun concert. Please be sure that all of your transportation is lined up by 7:45 PM. Bel Voce is expected on stage at 6:00pm and Chorale at 6:15pm. Don't be late!

After the concert on Tuesday we will be completing our Vocal 1 on a part test. Bel Voce will continue to prepare for LGPE on Friday. As a celebration on this week, I will provide Chick Fil A for all choir members during A lunch on Friday.

Welcome back from Winter break! I hope that you all had a restful week and are ready for our upcoming LGPE concert and performances.

This week we are preparing for our March 5 concert in all classes. Finalizing the musical details and logistics for our chance to shine in concert. Invite your friends and family. It is free!

We are fully immersed in learning our LGPE concert literature for both choirs. A wide variety of styles and periods are represented in this concert.

Chorus:

Welcome Back! I hope that you enjoyed the holiday break. We have started up quickly here in the chorus program. We have many returning members this semester that look forward to building on our successes of the first semester. We are also welcoming a few new students to the choral program as well. We have already begun learning new music for our next concert on Tuesday March 5 at 7:00pm at the Wheeler Performing Arts Center. I am looking forward to a great spring semester.
